Yours and Mine: The Lesson of 1623

In the twentieth century over 100 million people were killed by socialist or communist governments. The idea of common or national ownership of property is not new, nor is the knowledge of its dire results. Unfortunately, the history of the Mayflower pilgrims has often been inaccurately portrayed. They did not wear black with brass buckles, and they did not survive by sharing commonly-owned property. In reality, they learned the lesson that was tragically ignored 300 years later: Private ownership of property is essential to a prospering and civil society. This short drama sets the record straight by explaining what really happened at Plymouth Rock in 1623.
